  • About the Curriculum

Beginning guitar methods are frequently inadequate. The student is taken in many directions while learning the fundamentals of music and the guitar. This may be a disadvantage to the student. As a beginner, the student faces the challenge of learning how to hold and leverage the instrument, as well as muscle control.

In the method used by this studio, the student will study one element of technique at a time, for example: strumming open strings in different rhythms, scales, short picking pattern, chord progressions, etc. The student will also learn how to read music and understand the fingerboard of the guitar. In the last section of the program, the student will play duets with the instructor, this will allow them to feel the accomplishment of making music. This practice of learning the guitar is fulfilling because one finds immediate and long term self-gradification. This beginning method is geared toward students age 7 through 15 and offers several objectives:

    • To enhance self-worth and one's creativity.
    • To develop basic music skills.
    • To develop technical growth.
    • To learn the art of self-discipline.
    • To learn the art of performing.
    • To provide the feeling of accomplishment.
